Is Website Grader really free?
Yes. The grade, the full list of problems with fixes, and the PDF report are all free, with no sign-up and no limits on how many sites you grade.
Which browsers does it work in?
Google Chrome, plus browsers that can install from the Chrome Web Store, such as Microsoft Edge (turn on “Allow extensions from other stores”), Brave and Opera.
What data does it collect?
No personal details unless you ask for help. The Chrome extension checks the page in your browser; the online grader and the AI assistant versions check it on our server and record the website address and its score. In every version the address is sent to Google’s PageSpeed Insights to measure mobile speed. If you ask for help, we receive your contact details and the report so we can get in touch. Details in our privacy policy.
Why does it say “Google speed test unavailable”?
Google’s speed test is sometimes busy or can’t reach the site. Your grade still covers every other check. Open the grader again in a minute to include the speed score.
Why can’t it grade some pages?
Chrome doesn’t let extensions run on its own pages (like new tabs, settings and the Chrome Web Store) or on PDF files. Open a normal website and try again.
How accurate is the score?
The checks are automated and look at the page you have open. Load time is measured on your own connection, so it can vary a little between runs. Use it as a fast, honest health check, and treat the “Fix first” items as your priority list.
How do I download the PDF report?
Click “Get the full report (PDF)”, then “Save as PDF” in the print window that opens.
How do I remove it?
Right-click the grader icon in your toolbar and choose “Remove from Chrome”.
